In case you might be wondering if its really all that windy in Wyoming, I thought Id share with you a very short (and very shaky) video I shot just a few minutes ago near our home in Wapiti. In the video, a local elk herd rides out the buffeting wind and blowing snow in one of their favorite hay fields. With a high wind warning predicted for later today with gusts over 70 mph, we havent seen the worst of it yet. In fact, its been terribly windy over the last month with what seems like a high wind warning every few days. Its not even winter yet, and Steve and I have already been snowed in at our house for 6 days. Even though its difficult for us to get around in conditions like this, you cant help but feel for the animals who cant go inside to get out of the wind. Hopefully, this will be the last wind event for a while, but since we live in Wyoming....I wont hold my breath ;-) P.S. Apologies for the dirty camera/lens in this video. I even had grit in my teeth and under my fingernails after I shot this, and I didnt even leave the car! I guess thats what happens when you live in a wind tunnel!!
