In case you missed it, last week Lexington Veteran Mr. David Curtis Parrish was named the “Veteran of the Day” last week! Mr. Parrish served in the U.S. Army Air Corps from 1940-1945. He entered the European Theater as a P-47 pilot with the 396th Fighter Squadron 368th Fighter Group. Flying initially from England as escort to bombers over Germany, his group transferred to France after participating in strafing attacks on German defensive positions on D-Day. For his efforts during this time he was awarded the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, and the Air Medal with 5 oak leaf clusters. David was inducted into the Kentucky Aviation Hall of Fame in 2009, and passed away in 2012. We honor his service. Read more about David at: bit.ly/1rDDkpy
