In class last night (full of wanna-be peace officers,) most of them were saying things like such a tragedy, but a good shooting, meaning the police had no choice but to gun down another child. I said when did the life of a police officer ever outweigh a childs? and also mentioned the fact that police now have a tendency to simply unload into anything they perceive as a threat and let the legal department clean up the mess. A simple act of patience and logic would have saved a child. No other choice? LOTS of other choices.
