In my 46 years in this ole world I’ve came in contact with a bunch of folks, some had had a lasting positive impact on me. I just got the news that Bobby Merchant had passed away. Bobby was one of those that had a lasting positive impact on me. From way back to our garment plant days over thirty years ago (wow I’m getting old) he was always laughing and making the best out of every situation. I can still remember Ronnie threatening to fire me and Hack over and over again if we didn’t stop aggravating Bobby, then Bobby would see us coming out of the office and walk by and grin and start picking at us. I still remember Bobby getting wind of me doing some things I shouldn’t be doing and talking to me and in his own way and letting me know I was better than that and didn’t have no business doing it. I still remember meeting him in that big truck and him just a waving. Bobby you were one of the few left in this world that believed in working hard and doing the right thing simply because it was the right thing to do. I don’t know if you knew what a impact you had on me and it’s my fault for not letting you know, but I kinda feel like as you’re getting your reward up in heaven now, you’re getting a lot of Thank Yous up there from folks that went on ahead of you and you’ve also been made aware of the impact you had on me and a bunch of others that are still down here. Bobby you will be missed.
