AIR POWER DISCUSSION OF THE WEEK-ANSWER! Does God Have A Specific Person In Mind For Us To Marry? To answer this question I will like is to examine the circumstance surrounding the marriages of three people in the bible. The example of Adam and Eve. And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept:and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh:she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife:and they shall be one flesh. Genesis 2:21-24 God made a specific person Eve for Adam and not a set of women that he could choose from. This woman was created from Adams rib. There was a specific part of Adam in her. The marriage made them one. Verse twenty four begins with the word therefore which means because of this principle, a man should be joined to his wife. It seems there is a missing rib in every man which lies in a particular woman somewhere. The first marriage suggest there is a specific person you are supposed to marry. The example of Joseph and Mary. Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise:When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife:for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Jesus:for he shall save his people from their sins. Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matthew 1:18-23 Joseph decided against marrying Mary because he discovered he was already pregnant. He made up his mind to cancel the marriage and probably marry someone else. An angel appeared to him and told him to marry Mary although she was not his preference. This was to fulfill a prophecy which had been spoken by Isaiah six hundred years before Jesus was even born:that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet. According to this prophecy he was supposed to marry a particular virgin; Mary. The full prophecy can be found in Isaiah 7:14. From this example, it seems to me there was a particular person he was supposed to marry. The example of Isaac. Abraham sent his servant to choose a wife for his son Isaac. I want us to examine one of the verses which describes how the wife was to be chosen. The Lord God of heaven, which took me from my fathers house, and from the land of my kindred, and which spake unto me, and that sware unto me, saying, Unto thy seed will I give this land; he shall send his angel before thee, and thou shalt take a wife unto my son from thence. Genesis 24:7 An angel was to guide the servant to make a choice. The angel was going to help the servant identify a particular person and not a group of people. Before Isaac was born, Abraham wanted to substitute Hagar his concubines with Sarah and use Ishmael, Hagars son as heir. But God said there was a specific woman who was designed for this purpose. Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you:for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him. Isaiah 51:2 Conclusion What happens to someone who marries the wrong person?I believe the person may live below his or her potential. There are different wills of God there is the good, acceptable and perfect will of God. For example Israel chose Saul as king it was not the perfect will of God but it was acceptable. God is detailed and specific he has even numbered our hairs which means the specific location and the number of hairs. The plan for our lives was designed in detail before we were even born. Who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began 2 Timothy 1:9 May God grant us the grace to identify who we are supposed to marry and if we are already married to the wrong person may the mercy and grace of God prevail.
