In my teenage days I spent some time in Cannes completely - TopicsExpress

In my teenage days I spent some time in Cannes completely oblivious to the towns fleshpot reputation. Like many of the towns strung along the Côte dAzur, when the clouds darken overhead it can have a slightly grubby, down at heel feel. Sunshine will always bleach out the dark spots though and when it comes to wattage, movie stars can eclipse even the sun which is why Cannes is never as glamorous as it is during the two weeks when the film festival touches down. Its a small town that has seen everything, scantily clad starlets posing on the shingle beach, pet panthers in scintillating Cartier collars being taken for a morning stroll along the Croisette, lavish ball gowns and red carpets studded with the bold and the beautiful or perhaps, if truth be told, the good, bad and the ugly. This years festival opened with Nicole Kidman channeling the spirit of Her Serene Highness, Princess Grace of Monaco . . . Somerset Maugham said the Côte dAzur was a sunny place for shady people - a role Cannes is perfect to play. Have smashing & SAFE weekend, y’all!
