In recent talk by MYDIN Managing Director, Datuk Wira Ameer Ali - TopicsExpress

In recent talk by MYDIN Managing Director, Datuk Wira Ameer Ali MYDIN, this great blatantly criticized the present government about its method in helping the bumiputera. According to him, you cannot give money or financing to aspiring businessmen, it won’t help them. What entrepreneurs actually need, according to him, is “Step by Step” know-how on running respective business. He said, if one wants to run a Restoran Mamak, he must first, do roti canai day in day out. If you want to help someone to start a business, don’t give him money. Teach him how and where to get the “input” or “raw materials”. Then, teach him how to operate day to day business. Teach him how to market / sell the product. In one so-called “Seminar Bumiputera”, an uncle who operate “cultural dancing group” complained that they have no job. He complained that how can he gather people and train youngsters to do cultural dance, what if they can’t get a job ? In simple words, he wants a “ready market” before he can do the job. In other words, he refused to understand that he needs to do “marketing” first. Then, a businessman laughed, he told the pakcik, “if you don’t have a job, market your group so you can get jobs. Do marketing. Think. Don’t expect the government to feed you !” . Another businessman told the pakcik, “Malay can do anything. Can produce anything. But Malay usually don’t like to do marketing.” Going back to recent Seminar Pemerkasaan Ekonomi Bumiputera as declared by PM Najib and DPM Muhyidin, again they are telling the old story, using new slogan. “Feed malay”, “Give money” , “Loan money to Malay”. As Datuk Ameer MYDIN said, “Don’t worry. Government definitely will fail. 100%...” It’s useless to give money to people who don’t have clear ideas how to use the money ! Skills or kemahiran on how to run the operation or intermediary process, yes, government is doing things right to certain extent, with increasing emphasis on skill training rather than empty academic. We are seeing some Institut kemahiran but it seems government also again makes mistake in adding dozens more UITM. Add more useless degrees to Bumiputera ? Now, 2 things that government still overlook…. Raw materials. Input for businesses. Who are holding the source of this input and material ? For instance, we know Malay buy TV, fridge, and electronic products. Toshiba, Sharp etc. Can Malay sell these things. No, unless the factories appoint Malay as agent. Besides input, as stressed earlier, MARKETING ….. You need to sell and find market for what you have. These two, raw materials and marketing, are not the things touched by our PM and DPM. So, I believe, these Pemerkasaan will just be another extravagant waste of money without really improving / helping Malay who desperately need it (in long term). It’s really sad ….
