In recognition of Veterans Day 2013, Id like to share a photo of my father, Paul Rexford Gibbons (its miswritten on the certificate) certificate of promotion to the rank of Corporal in the 113th CAV of the Iowa Natl Guard, in 1934. The significance of the certificate is due to the fact that my daughter, Spc now Sgt Stacey Bonnar who is a member of the Nevada Natl Guard, requested a transfer to any guard unit that was being shipped to Afghanistan. In Dec. of 2010 her request was granted and she was assigned to the 113 CAV Iowa Natl Guard unit and sent over as one of their combat medics. The discovery of this document confirms our belief that the circle of life remains unbroken in many small ways. God bless ALL our warriors, past, present and future and may He keep you all safely in the palm of His hand.
