In response to many queries about our program…. Olds College Equine Science horsemanship programs(Alberta, Canada) do take young horses for our training classes each September. I will be happy to answer any questions you may have if you are interested in becoming one of our clients for the program. We have 2 training programs: Training and Riding the Young English(orWestern) horse - this program starts early Sept runs through to mid April. The horses should preferably have 60 - 90 days riding, perform all gaits quietly, they are kept in barn and have private turnout pens daily. The horses are assigned to a student to ride and learn how to school the young horses on the flat and beginning jumping(in the english class). There is a fee but it is kept to a minimum to cover board. The owners are responsible for the costs of all health care. The students work with the horses 5 days each week under the guidance of an instructor. The minimum age is 3 year old, we do prefer 4 to 7 year old horses. We only train as fast as the maturity of the horse allows. Please message me if you need further details. I have a list started for fall of 2014, video footage is sufficient, all horses must pass instructor inspection to determine suitability. REFERENCES are available from for a report on this program. The second program is the Starting the Young Horse class. The horses must be brought to the college for an inspection and selection early September for health and maturity assessment. The western and english horsemanship students start young horses as a team and this program runs from Sept to Dec. The goal is advanced ground training and first rides on a horse. Many satisfied clients…. we have many sales horses and have sold several who have graduated from this one of a kind program
