In search of perfection, students make amazing models : TNN Talash, the technology event organized by the KLEs Information Technology Engineering College on Sunday saw students coming out with several interesting and innovative models that can provide a solution to many of our day-to-day problems. Hundreds of students from over 13 engineering and diploma colleges of North Karnataka students took part in Talaash-in search of perfection, held in joint collaboration with NanoPix and displayed about 50 innovative projects. Many of the projects aimed at addressing the common problems of power and water. Then there models that help in making routine works easier. Grabbing the eyeballs was the Grand Tower model, wherein Omkumar Savalagi, engineering student of KLSVDRIT of Halyal, showed how a mobile tower can be put to different uses like generating wind energy, solar energy and lifting of water from lakes. Gasification of stove was another model that drew the attention of the visitors. Here paddy waste is used as fuel, which gives flames as in LPG. This is a low cost model. It is energy efficient and is helpful in preparing food on a large scale, said Mohammad Farhan and his team members who are the part of the project. Abhishek Bendigeri, Chiranjeevi Patil and Sachin Deshpande came out with a compact newsroom, under the project UIF-DPU. They showed how all components like live-air telecasting, video and audio editing, recording, open stage function and others can be fit in a single vehicle. Abhishek said the project has won many awards in the past. Abhinandan K, LEAD programme told TOI that based on the commercial viability of a model, students passion, marketing strategy others factors, judges will select three models. These three projects will be given Rs 50,000 each by NanoPix. The company will also help students in seeking patenting and intellectual property rights
