In setting goals or objectives for employees ensure they follow the SMART guideline: S - Specific- Clearly define what is to be done, where, with whom and how M – Measurable-What are the expected outcomes for tasks given i.e. quality, quantity, cost, time etc. A – Achievable- Set realistic goals according to the skills and resources available to the employees. R – Relevant – Objectives should be relevant to the individual’s specific job, department and the business objective. T- Time Bound- Set clear time frames, milestones and guidelines.
