In the 1920s and 30s, Haiti was the perfect setting for polo matches, providing an ideal climate, friendly and welcoming population that welcomed travelers from the world who docked in its ports to enjoy food, entertainment and sport. But Haiti had never fielded a national team of its own, in a game described as the sport of kings. It makes it all the more remarkable that the making of history, by the first Haiti team competing in an officially sanctioned international tournament (USPA et al), would perform so well and in the end, hold up the championship trophy.
