In the early hours of December 27 2011 the workshop at ANZA - TopicsExpress

In the early hours of December 27 2011 the workshop at ANZA Motors, Harley-Davidson agents for the Manawatu, caught fire. It burnt to the ground, destroying 21 bikes, including a brand new $75k customised HD, and including this 2007 Fatboy right here – It was parked right in the narrow doorway , the only access to the burning workshop. All of the heat, smoke and flames came out over this bike as the shop burned, bikes simply melted and the roof fell in. As fire-fighters fought the blaze, they had to hose everything over and around it to get at the flames inside. I replaced the mirrors, fitted new tyres and gave it a service. That was 15,000 kilometres ago. If you look at the photos, you’ll see the fire, heat, smoke and chemical damage and staining on the chrome parts and the alloy wheels especially. A lot of its come off in the time since. The leather and painted surfaces were fine with a rub but on a clear day you can still smell the stink of the blaze on it. I don’t wash it too often, because every time I do a little more of his amazing survival story washes off, and then it would just be another bike.
