In the interest of fairness, RICOA has responded to my Curly Tops - TopicsExpress

In the interest of fairness, RICOA has responded to my Curly Tops concern. Here is a link to the original video: youtu.be/-kdKY7gdbbs This is their letter in full. Please feel free to share. My thoughts? I am really glad they explained. Flat Tops are still my favorite local brand of chocolates. I suggest they look for an inexpensive innovation that will put even a minimal curl back in Curly Tops. It matters to fans. Having said that, mabuhay Commonwealth Foods Inc.! ------ Dear Mr. Mercado, We wish to take this opportunity to clarify with you regarding your concern about the physical appearance of our Curly Tops product without the “curl” on top of the chocolates, which you posted on-line via Twitter, Youtube, Facebook, and Instagram. Our Flat Tops and Curly Tops chocolate candies are two different products and are made from two different formulations. They may be similar in appearance (because they are produced from the same model of chocolate depositing machines) but rest assured, the two products have two different taste profiles due to their different formulations. As a historical background, our Curly Tops were originally produced and packed MANUALLY, in bon-bon paper cups and in the classic boxboard packaging. The process was (and still is) very tedious. Production output was limited, understandably. Over the years, the demand for Curly Tops grew. To meet the growing demand for the product, we were thus forced to use twist-wrap as an alternative packaging for our Curly Tops in boxes – the same type of packaging being used for our even more popular and fast-selling Flat Tops. In doing so, however, the “curl” in Curly Tops had to be “sacrificed” or eliminated because the machinery used for twist-wrapping could not efficiently wrap the product unless the surface was smooth. But rest assured that the Company has not changed the formulation of Curly Tops chocolates. We will NEVER pass off Flat Tops as Curly Tops to mislead our customers nor commit any deceitful action in our production process that would disparage our established brandname/Company. SO YOUR POSTING ON-LINE THAT “RICOA HAS BEEN PASSING OFF FLAT TOPS AS CURLY TOPS” HAS NO BASIS IN FACT AND IS UNFAIR TO US. We are proud to be one of the very few surviving local manufacturers of chocolates (for the last 56 years) inspite of the deluge and availabilities of foreign/imported chocolates and confectioneries. We are keenly aware that in order to continue this legacy, we MUST maintain the quality of our products under our RICOA brand and the other brands of the Company. We know for a fact that our Curly Tops chocolate candies has already become a household name; therefore, we take any issues/comments/concerns of our valued customers seriously as the livelihood of our workers (235 workers in this facility alone) and their families are also dependent on the survival of our business. If the lack of “curl” in our Curly Tops has already become a serious issue to our valued customers, we are ready to take the necessary steps to address this on our packaging labels to explain this change in appearance. We hope that you could also give our side and explanations to your many readers for their judgment; and we hope that you will continue to patronize our Curly Tops product. Sincerely, COMMONWEALTH FOODS, INC.
