In the little time that I have been on his group sometimes I read posts about USA is not America, Im latino, I live in south america, and I say that every person who comes from the USA is a properly AMERICAN, some people are agreed with me, but many others no, let me explain with my no perfect english and with a good sense of humor: -you want a fact, okey, in colony times the biggest and easily access for Europeans to the new world was in the east coast from the USA, and the new world was called America, so I think is totally normal ,and human, call americans to the people who lives in that place (if we see it from the point of view of a former coloner), so that about the americans put themselves americans is just wrong (I read that in many comments) -for my fellows latinamericans who maybe think that this Chilean is just too damn high writing on a tablet, and they can say to that they use to have a big access to the new world in Cuba, Brazil, Argentina, Peru, Colombia, Chile too, etc... and why we arent recognised as Americans too??? First of all Im not high..................yet Second, yeah, we have the access in the colony times, but they werent so big, many of them where Spaniards or Portuguese exportations docks, and face it, you know it, you cant compare the colonial Boston with colonial Valparaiso or the Buenos Aires of that time (in immigration terminologies, remember, every culture is different, no better or worst than the others, that is a rule of life) Third, we are worldwide recognised as LATINOS, why you want to be called American? Again, no culture is better or worst than another, just different, but for the latinamericans who were or are in another country, just think when you were with another guys from latinamerica, I remember a weekend when I was in a hangout with guys from Dominican Republic, Venezuela, Uruguay, Ecuador, Bolivia and Brazil, and the feeling of beening just called Latinos instead of the names of our countrys is just awesome, think about it, is a wonderful feeling of union, so why you would change it?? No offense people ;) - for the europeans who maybe think that uff another guy who doenst know nothing about geography, United States of America is just a country in the continent yeah, is right, they are in the cotinent, but they took the name first in their independence, easy like that, it is an united states of Mexico, I think Brazil used to be called like that, and Chile was called like that too for 2 weeks in the last century XD but they take the name first, so be it, it doesnt affect anybody -for the people who say it about the grammar (weird, but I read a few comments about it and is not something that I want to left), the human language is always change it, we dont speak like 800 years ago, and maybe we would speak totally different in the next years, my point?? They are already more than 200 years since the USA is a country, many languages as Spanish, German, and Japanese says that a person from the USA is American, or Americano, or Amerikaner, etc. Is already in our language, why I would change it for something complicated? in the comments many persons tried to change the name, but the results are totally complicated, maybe in the future, when China decides to invade us all, maybe we would need a new name, but for now on this present time they are americans (No offense China ;D ) And for end this thing, people, we are exchange students, we are nice, lovely and represents of our cultures, why we are being rude with this topic?? Instead of being discussing about a nickname I would prefer to drink something with that fella called American, cheers and have a wonderful day!!!
