In the past weeks of school I swear I had a heck of a roller-coaster ride. When I enter the room each time, I would be in great apprehension. Will I be able to answer questions? Will I make it in the quizzes? Will I stand a chance towards the possibility of getting good grades? Will I be the person Im expecting to be? Am I really supposed to be here? Fear. Doubts. Uncertainty. I lose control, I lose focus. I started to hate everything and I started to not love what Im doing. Exams came. Yes, I was able to answer things. I was able to make it. No matter how hard things may have been, I still had the armor, I came to battle prepared. Week after exams, I consider this, weird as it may sound, a period of enlightenment. Political Science is no joke. Pre-law, thats what we are referred to and as much as we deny it, we came here to be lawyers, to be legal counsels. Things never will come easy, reality is not easy. Challenges will always abound. But I would like to quote my teacher on his view on challenges, There are two ways of dealing with challenges. Its either you hate that you are challenged or be proud that you are able to rise above those challenges. Our teachers do not mean to make our lives miserable. They wanted us to learn from them and from our own selves. They wanted us not just to be intelligent now, they wanted us to be intelligent throughout our lives, wanted us to sustain our intelligence with character. Now why am I saying all these? Its not to say that I am right and that you should listen to me. Im saying this because Ive learned and I want you not to learn this in your way if you could learn it from me. My mistake is enough to put an end to the possibility of others committing the same, of you being filled with fear and doubt. Open your mind. Be hungry for knowledge. Enjoy where you are. Love what you do. Study and discipline yourself as early as now and bring it with you in the peak of your quest for learning. Nothing comes easy. If you have a dream you have to sacrifice for it. At the end of the day, the journey will all be worth it. Be positive. Be you. Be who God wanted you to be. Know your purpose. At this point in time? Im ready for the challenges of school and of life. Im ready to rise above them. Im ready to be proud. Law school was an ambition of the past for me. Now, its a destination.
