In the sport of bodybuilding, the aim is to build and sculpt - TopicsExpress

In the sport of bodybuilding, the aim is to build and sculpt muscle - and for men, there is no limit to how much mass they can carry in the eyes of the judges as long as the quality and symmetry is there. Women, however, are far more limited as to how much muscle they are allowed to build. To be too big is to sacrifice femininity in the eyes of judges. Femininity is subjective and what is seen as unfeminine by one judge may be seen differently by another. Different sets of rules or standards seem to be set from judge to judge, competition to competition and female bodybuilders have to always be mindful of that. Female basketball players are not penalized for being too tall, nor are female runners penalized for being too fast, yet it is perfectly acceptable to tell a female bodybuilder that she cannot be too muscular because the look is not marketable. Unfortunately, these amazing female athletes are not considered marketable no matter WHAT they look like! It is a double standard and it is so unfair!! Competitive standards that apply to men should also apply to women. Its as simple as that.
