In the wilderness the Hebrew people only had to look toward the Tabernacle and see the pillar of cloud or fire to know that God was with them. They had real experiential proof of the presence of God in their midst and that God had not abandoned them. In Acts 2 God gave real experiential evidence that he was dwelling within the disciples. That God had not abandoned them with the death of Christ. They saw the tongues of fire and they individually spoke in tongues. Real tangible proof of the presence of God. Not based on just believing that you have it but real evidentiary proof. Later on the disciples used this very proof (tongues) to show that the gospel had indeed gone to the gentiles and that they had been given the same infilling of the Holy Spirit. Just like the ancient Hebrews in the wilderness, no matter what the circumstances or tests that I endure, I have real evidence that God has not left me and that His Spirit still is a part of me. Why? Because I can still pray in tongues. Glory Hallelujah LORD JESUS CHRIST!!! . ...
