In this age when Verdi is sung either by faceless technicians with no passion, no ability to express the text or colour the voice (mostly Americans sadly) or underpowered, ill-equipped 3rd raters, what a pleasure to find that individual artist, Anja Harteros, in such splendid form. A very individual Leonora, one of my favourite female roles in the entire Verdi oeuvre, sung with clarity, great sound, commitment and secure pitch (makes me happy because Harteros doesnt sound too happy in that respect these days). The production looks great, filling the stage with human beings instead of operatic monsters. Happy about the bass too. Fisch sounds removed from the music, and stage and pit dont really click. Still, I think its DVD-worthy. https://youtube/watch?v=qXEmfDet9JM
