In todays world , when people speak about forgiveness , compassion and magnanimity , One example in the history of Mankind is epitomised for it . MY LORD , FORGIVE THEM FOR THEY KNOW NOT WHAT THEY ARE DOING . Jesus christ ( PBUH ) said it when he was put on the cross by the enemy . No doubt , its a great gesture , we all have to accept . BUT IT DOESNT CARRY SAME WEIGHT WHEN IT IS COMPARED TO ANOTHER EXAMPLE OF FORGIVENESS . LET US SEE ? Mohamed ( PBUH ) , called the people of MAKKAH to the worship of one true CREATOR . The people of MAKKAH not only rejected his message but also persecuted him . They tortured him and his family and also his companions . They killed many of his family and followers . They finally forced him to migrate to another place leaving behind whatever belonged to him . Even after that , they made the life of Mohammad ( SAW ) miserable and thrusted war on him . 10 years in exile , Mohammad (SAW ) , gains power and returns to MAKKAH , ALONGWITH his army and conquered the city . Now people of MAKKAH remembered all the torture they had inflicted on him (SAW ). MOHAMMED ( SAW ) , STANDS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE CITY AND CRIED OUT , O PEOPLE OF MAKKAH ! WHAT DO YOU EXPECT FROM ME TODAY ? THE PEOPLE OF MAKKAH WERE SCARED AND THEY SHOUTED OUT , MERCY , O GENEROUS BROTHER AND NEPHEW ... LISTENING TO THIS , TEARS CAME IN THE EYES OF THE PROPHET ( SAW ) . HE SAID , TODAY I WILL SPEAK TO YOU AS JOSEPH SPOKE TO HIS BROTHEREN . I WILL NOT REPROACH YOU TODAY . YOU ARE FREE . AND , THEN A SCENE WAS ENACTED WHICH HAS NO PARALLEL IN HISTORY . PEOPLE OF MAKKAH CAME IN HORDES AND EMBRACED ISLAM ... THIS IS THE REAL EXAMPLE OF FORGIVENESS . When a person is still in the clutches of his enemy , and he says , I FORGIVE YOU , is no doubt a great thing . But when a man is in the position of strength and has the power of life and death over his enemies , and then he say , I WILL FORGIVE YOU . This is real forgiveness and carries more weight . Finally , i would like to put one thing straight . My intention was not to belittle the forgiveness of jesus christ ( PBUH ) . My intention was only to give a better example of forgiveness , and i think you will agree with me . BECAUSE , IT IS AN ARTICLE OF FAITH FOR A MUSLIM , TO BELIEVE IN JESUS CHRIST ( PBUH ) TO LOVE HIM , TO RESPECT HIM . AND WE BELIEVE THAT JESUS WAS ONE OF THE MIGHTIEST MESSENGERS OF ALLAH ...
