In trying to deflect criticism regarding his statement that, If you like your health care plan, you can keep it. Period. If you like your doctors, you can keep them. Period., Obama today stated that the exceptions only apply to those individuals who bought their own health insurance and werent covered by a company plan; those who had substandard plans to begin with. I didnt think I had a substandard plan at all, but thought I should maybe check. So, for anyone who cares to chime in, let me know what your health insur bennies have been. Mine for the record, is a $3000 deductible PPO plan with $0 cost for preventative care, including annual exams, mammos, paps, blood work, and other preventative screenings. $40 co-pay for primary care and specialist visits that are not preventative care visits. Max annual out-of-pocket $7500. Im not sure what gives him the authority to determine what a standard plan is, when much of the garbage hes tacking on to mandatory requirements are not needed by the majority of Americans. He then went onto state that, these individuals will now be able to get a BETTER plan, many times at a reduced cost compared to what theyve been paying. I WISH!! The cheapest plan under the ACA I found was an HMO with very restricted docs available at $366/mo... i.e. a WORSE plan for 75% MORE than what Ive been paying. To even come close to what my current plan is, Id have to pay between $500-800/month (compared to $217/mo), and thats still not as good a plan as I have now. Not sure where Obama is getting his misinformation from, or if hes just making it up to deflect criticism, but itd be nice to get the real facts out there.
