Tropical Cyclone Warning Number 8 issued by the Vanuatu Meteorology and Geo-Hazards Department, Port Vila at 7:15am VUT Tuesday 11 March 2014 for TORBA, SANMA, PENAMA and MALAMPA Provinces . At 5:00am local time, Tropical Cyclone Lusi was located at 15.6 degrees South 167.7 degrees East. The system is positioned at the centre right of square letter G, number 5 (G,5) of the Vanuatu Tropical Cyclone Tracking Map (meteo.gov.vu/TropicalCyclones/VanuatuTrackingMap/tabid/176/Default.aspx). This is about 35 KM south southwest of Ambae and 55 KM west northwest of Pentecost. Tropical Cyclone Lusi moved in a southeast direction at 13 KM/HR (7 knots) in the past 3 hours. The central pressure of the system is estimated at 990 hPa. Winds close to the centre estimated at 85 KM/HR. Damaging gale force winds of 85 KM/HR will continue to affect PENAMA,SANMA,MALAMPA and TORBA Provinces today. The next warning on Tropical Cyclone Lusi will be issued at 9:00am.
