Inconvenient Truths! Tat unlike those of the movie of the same name, actually ARE true! November 22nd – There are about 185K miles of oil, 320K miles of gas and 2M miles of gas distribution pipelines in the U.S. Studies show that pipelines are far safer and leave a much smaller carbon footprint than transport by tankers, trucks or rail. (Fraser Institute) But greenies celebrated last Monday after 41 senators (39 Dems & 2 Indies) blocked the Keystone XL pipeline. The question is why? Do they think that without the pipeline the Canadian oil sands will not be mined? And if that oil is shipped by tanker and refined in China that this is better for the environment? Keystone XL would create direct & indirect jobs and (unlike the stimulus) would be financed by the private sector and not by American taxpayers. Environmental-wackos should instead be celebrating the 18-year pause in “global warming,” the Antarctic sea ice at record levels, the record growth in the Artic ice cap (which Gore predicted would be gone by now) and the healthy polar bear population. But they won’t, since these are “inconvenient truths” for those needing scare tactics to push forward their socialist agenda.
