Incredible 3 days in Melbourne. I just completed my level 1 MovNat certified trainer course. These guys know what they are doing in terms of movement and philosophy of movement. The whole time was spent without shoes, outdoors and playing. I wouldnt call it exercise, id call it relearning the basic movements you need to live as a human being. One example being how to pick up a log and carry it a distance. The log is not shaped like a barbell and certainly not as stable. We had to constantly adapt our position and be aware the whole time. I have come away so inspired and full of a ton of new ideas of how I can work with people. My tools of assessment went up by 600% and now will include running, crawling, jumping, throwing, lifting, carrying and transitioning between all these essential natural movements humans are born to do! How many times do you hear of somebody hurting their back doing the silliest little thing like bending down to pick up a shoe? Could it be perhaps that their body has forgotten how to move efficiently and have the ability to adapt? I had so much fun watching all the other participants and figuring out what was holding their efficiency and performance back. My structural integration experience slid right on top of the natural movement principles. Love it. Im going to have so much fun with this. I will be running movement workshops starting in January 2015. Everything will be outdoors, in minimal shoes or bare feet, highly focused on technique, safety and efficiency, movements that are applicable to your everyday life, and most of all fun! If youve ever wanted to learn how to jump properly, run better, lift odd objects safely and climb on things this is for you. And the best part you will feel more mobile in your whole body as a result. Stoked!
