Indeed, a very, very sad day today: Ronald Joseph Cubalchini Ronald Joseph Cubalchini, 64, owner of the beloved Joe’s Cheese House in Marinette, Wis., peacefully entered eternal life on October 20th, 2014. Born July 2, 1950, in Marinette, Ron was the son of the late Mary and Joseph Cubalchini. Generations of families have shared in the dairy pleasures of Ron’s special store -- especially at the holidays. Since 1918, the Cubalchini cheese business has been a part of the larger community and has lived on through Ron for the past 40 years. Many regulars who frequented Joe’s Cheese House, tucked away on Dunlap Avenue, came to see Ron for more than just cheese. Some may have thought they were coming in for fresh curds or his exclusive 18-year-old cheddar, but his unique ability to connect and engage with people often left them pondering the meaning of life or catching up where they left off. Everyone knew a visit to the cheese store was not a quick trip, for included in Ron’s customer service was his advice, philosophy, or simply lifting your spirits with his self-deprecating humor and vulnerable honesty. He was hard-working, humble and a hero to all for continuing his business as a legally blind man. Ron is survived by his caring sisters: Carol Cubalchini of Marinette, and Therese Gould of Corona del Mar, Calif.; three nieces: Anne (Steve) Sjoblom, Kelly (Tom) Sullivan and Jackie (Mike) Kuhl; five great-nephews: Brett, Kyle, Garrett, Grant and James; a great-niece, Kate; extended family; and a host of friends and devoted customers from near and far. Visitation will be held at Thielen Funeral Home, Friday, October 24th from 4 to 7 p.m. A Vigil Prayer Service will be held at 7 p.m. A Mass will be held on Saturday, October 25th at Holy Family Parish- St. Joseph’s Church on Carney Blvd., at 11 a.m. with Rev. Celestine Byekwaso officiating. Ron’s family would like to extend their deep gratitude to the kind and devoted staff at Bellin Hospital and the Altrusa House in Green Bay; and Bay Area Medical Center. A memorial to the National Federation for the Blind in Ron’s name is appreciated.
