India Rejoices the birthday of Swami Vivekananda today on 12th January ! HAPPY NATIONAL YOUTH DAY !! Swami Vivekananda Was a great Religious Leader and a Social Reformer of our country. He has spread the light of Spiritual Knowledge of India by introducing Hindu philosophies of Vedanta and Yoga in Europe and America. He developed interfaith awareness and brought Hinduism and Indian culture to the status of a World religion. His teachings were more of personality development rather than religious practices in nature. He argued the Youth to be bold and create their own destiny and uplift the nation. His speeches and books inspire millions of Youth even today and his preachings are applicable even in the present context. Therefore, as a tribute to his marvellous character, India celebrates his Birthday as National Youth Day He is remembered for his speech in The parliament of World religions at Chicago in 1893, where he was the first to say the Americans as my dear brothers and sisters of america. It is said that the hall resounded with applause for some minutes. His message created a special place for India among the contemporary world. Such was his intellect, stature, moral character and wisdom. We are indeed proud and blessed to be born in the same country and call him as one of our countrymen. His life and teachings offer a direction to every individual, if we can open our eyes unto it.
