India’s diplomatic outreach to bring home 46 nurses was steered by National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and IB Director, who flew to Baghdad and Riyadh respectively last month. Their missions, which were kept secret at the time, were powered by phone calls from External Affairs ministry to their counterparts in the region. Mr. Doval was dispatched to Iraq , on June 25, to a top secret mission to Iraq to understand the position on the ground and make high-level contacts in the Iraqi government. The results are for everyone to see as we rescued the nurses & other men and brought them home. Here are a few lesser known facts about Ajit Doval: 1] Ajit Doval is popularly known to be one of the finest Intelligence officers, India has ever seen and is an IPS officer from the 1968 batch of the Kerala cadre. 2] He is widely known for solving conflicts in States like Mizoram, Punjab, and Kashmir issue. 3] He was main negotiator with the hijackers of Indian Airlines flight IC-814 in Kandahar in 1999. 4] He retired from his services on January 31, 2005 from the position of Director, Intelligence Bureau. 5] In January 2009, he was chosen by the Government of Karnataka as its Security Adviser. 6] He is known for its clear insight and vision for Indian and global security issues. 7] He has spoken extensively nationally and internationally on strengthening Indian security apparatus and closer cooperation amongst security forces globally. 8] He is a strong advocate of a centralised organization to manage Indian counter terrorist strategy and execution. 9] Doval has spoken and written widely on the creation of the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC). 10] He is currently serving as the National Security Advisor for Government of India.
