Indigenous Jumma Buddhist people calls for strike in Rangamati Hill District in CHT - Chittagong Hill Tracts of Jummaland. Jumma Indigenous people of CHT has called for a dawn to dusk strike on 10 January 2015 in Rangamati Hill District as part of their ongoing opposition to the two controversial development projects -- Rangamati Medical College and Engineering University -- that the government of Bangladesh has been trying to impose on them. Indigenous people on several occasions urged the government to postpone the projects until the CHT Accord is implemented properly. Instead, they have been pressing the government to develop primary and secondary education system in CHT and to implement the CHT Accord on priority and urgent basis for development they need in this hour. It may be mentioned that some one hundred indigenous families will be evicted from their ancestral land and hearths if the projects are implemented.
