Information from Durham Constabulary We can confirm that a body of a teenage boy has been found in the river wear near to Finchale Abbey. It is believed to be that of Jordan Roberts, 17, from the Sunderland area who was reported missing late yesterday afternoon. Emergency services were called shortly after 5pm yesterday following reports of people being in danger in the River Wear. Four friends had been playing by the river; three males had entered the water and got into difficulty. One of the men managed to pull one of his friends out of the water and administered CPR which we believe saved his life. He was taken to hospital and his condition is described as poorly but stable. The search for Jordan continued into the night and resumed early this morning. Sadly just before 11 a.m. a body was discovered in the river. No formal identification has yet taken place and efforts to recover the body are underway. Supt Andy Huddleston said: Jordans family have been informed of this latest development. We are continuing to support the family at this difficult time.
