Information gathered from NWS update on8/7 at 1730. Initial effects of the storm is already beginning to affect Hawaii island. in the next couple of hours the front part of Iselle will begin to move through the Pailolo channel at approximately 55 mph. Maui County is anticipated to get sustained winds between 35-50 mph. Overall, direction and projection of storm has not changed. Still on anticipated course and speed. Surf on the big island is currently about 15-20 feet and is expected to rise dramatically as the actual storm hits the island. Maui Countys affects will peak overnight; approximate time of initial arrival at 10 pm. The eye of the storm has already dissipated. Water does warm towards the west of the state and may cause wind sheer to increase but will continue to break up and move quickly through the state. NWS and civil defense is emphasizing that this is the real thing. Expect damages! Current conditions on Hawaii Island Kona coast is reporting 10-12 foot surf, surges of up to 4 feet and numerous reports of problems with run off in the coastline subdivisions. Pahoa reports extremely heavy rain, multiple lines and trees down and extensive power outages Hilo reports showers, surf from 6-8 feet and moderate winds of about 20mph Waimea reports multiple trees and power lines down, road closures and sustained winds of about 20-25 mph Brief update on Julio still keeping a northerly track and becoming a tropical storm as it passes through the state. Lots of heavy rains are expected as Julio moves into the residual affects of Iselle. No projection of storm stalling as it moves its course at about 17 mph. Over all
