Information regarding last nights meeting: I am not sure if everyone got to view the Delegation that was given to the town regarding concerns but we thought we would post and update everyone the progress that was made as well as look for solutions to issues that have been brought up. 1. The walk way in the newer development which kids are to use to walk to school instead of walking on the road. Answer - unfortunately it is private property of the developer and there is some on going issues so it isnt the towns property, but after the meeting we spoke outside regarding this as it has to be addressed before kids head back in September. The best idea that was given is to build a wooden type walk way over top of the mud and stones so that kids can safely walk and stay clean. What are everyones thoughts on that solution till the developer finally addresses this issue? As well if it is a good idea we would need someone to build it and we would need supplies (fundraiser or by donation?) or could we do something from the towns budget 2. Growth and development in the town, being everyones responsibility. Cooperation has to be given by all parties. Answer - this was agreed upon and finding ways to communicate better as how this page was created:) a place where questions could be asked and if you are unsure on how to obtain information regarding bylaws and who to talk to regarding issues. 3. Regular and timely maintenance on green spaces, weeds, etc. Answer - they are trying to keep up with regular grass cuttings etc but due to the heavy wet weather in June as well as other issues it has been a challenge. Dust control was brought up and was asked that the town consider doing it twice, once in the spring and once in July. Some spaces that have weeds (Ie: mainstreet) are not owned by Town and they have to follow certain steps to have the owners take care of their spaces. 4. Speeding in Aberdeen and the highway out towards the cemetery. Answer - Sue commented that last week the government of Highways did get back and the speed limit will be changed to 30 as well Bruce asks that when you spot people speeding etc to continually call the RCMP so its recorded that there is an ongoing issue. As well they are considering a portable speed tracker to show drivers they are going to fast and it also records how many people are speeding - everyone thought that was a great idea. 5. Alley ways are not being maintained or not developed - ie: Cannon Court Answer - Town is working on fixing this issue as some of it is their responsibility as well as the developers. This will have to be addressed again and our looking for possible solutions to the flooding and mud issue as gravel sinks into the heavy clay soil and not the answer 6. The ongoing road issues with newer developments and new developments Answer - Again alot of this goes back to the developer as well as a learning curb for the town. Unfortunately with one builder there has been some personal issues with finances as well for future reference curbs and roadways must be in place prior to building new houses. 7. Snow Removal not being done in a timely matter and having citizens of aberdeen doing it themselves. Placing snow fences or Trees to break the snow drift. (please see number 8) Answer - The citizens agreed that doing it at 4 or 5 am would not be an issue to them even if they could hear the grater as getting to work is a priority. A poll was suggested and could be done on this page to see who would say yes and no to the streets being cleared earlier 8. Green space and planting trees etc (new board) Answer - We currently have an active member on the board who takes care of the small park at the entrance of Aberdeen plus does the christmas lights etc (which is my favourite thing:) sorry personal opinion lol... He would love to have some help in this regards and Lisa Grilz and myself Leanne Thompson-Hill and possibly Trish ??? and anyone else that loves to garden and are interested in providing and building our own green space plus farmers market (next year 2015) and helping find funding for trees etc. Please pm Leanne or Lisa or comment and we will include you in our coffee meetings. We also are going to do up a proposal for the town to work with the in the development of such a space and what it could provide for the town including possible revenue.
