Inside-Out Caramel Apples Yield: 4 apple halves 1 14-ounce bag of caramels, unwrapped 1 tablespoon water 1 slice of lemon 2 Granny Smith apples Assorted candies In a double boiler, or in a heatproof bowl over simmering water, melt the caramels. If caramel is too thick, add 1 tablespoon of water to thin out. In the meantime, cut apples in half, and scoop out the center of each half, removing all seeds and leaving approximately one-half inch on all sides. Rub the lemon slice around the edges of the apple to prevent browning. Fill scooped-out apples with caramel, and top with your favorite nuts and candies.
