Inspired by the seminar I attended this past weekend (Kay Laurence - world renowned and respected trainer), I started training my dogs to Back Up. If you are not familiar with clicker training, I am clicking each time their second front foot gets on the target mat. That click tells the dog THAT is the behavior that is getting them the reward. As time goes by, I will be doing more training and moving the mat (or my chair) farther away, so they will learn to take more steps backwards until they hit the mat. Take note at how each dog works. Bagley (big black dog) loves to learn and will do it all day. He learns very fast. Kobe (red dog), while equally smart, is more lackadaisical in his learning (please tell me WHY??). Watch for the out take at the end. Good for a laugh!
