Inspiring, truthful, and challenging words from Judah Smith. It takes courage and humility to recognize we are as messed up as the drug addict next door, and many of us never get that honest with ourselves. If we cant be honest with ourselves, well never be honest with God. Well continue to whitewash our dark sides and flaunt our good deeds, and nothing will ever change. If I separate myself from sinners, I dont have to deal with their pain. I dont have to walk in their shoes or love them or let my heart break with theirs. I dont have to get my hands dirty helping them put the pieces of their lives back together. I can justify rudeness and indifference when my heart should bleed with compassion. I can ignore the fact that but for the grace of God I would be doing exactly what they are doing. Jesus was obsessed with showing mercy to those who lest deserved it. He was passionate about giving hope to the hopeless people. He was committed to showing grace to the worst of sinners. And if Im honest, that includes me. What did I get from these words???? I need to be more like Jesus and become obsessed with showing mercy to those who least deserve it. Jesus calls us to be like him, humble, patient, kind, always seeking to love and help others (even when they dont deserve it). Sorry for such a long post, but I know I needed to hear these words spoken so honestly without any sugar coating, and thought maybe someone else needed to hear them as well. This book is a MUST READ... Jesus is _______. Oak Pointe Church, well have it available in the kiosk on Sunday.
