Integrity moments - The Power of an Apology By: Rick Boxx According to a Wall Street Journal article, debtors who apologize in bankruptcy court are more likely to have their repayment plans approved. They also are more likely to manage their finances properly in the future. A pair of law professors presented hypothetical cases to 137 bankruptcy judges and discovered that plans were approved more frequently when the debtor apologized. This is reportedly consistent with prior research in other legal cases. Apologies have the best result. Jesus taught in Luke 17:3, “So watch yourselves. “If your brother or sister sins against you, rebuke them; and if they repent, forgive them.” God has placed judges in a position to assure that true justice is carried out. They are looking for true repentance. If you’ve wronged someone a good starting place is an apology.
