Intense video footage of Fatah Official pleading for cease fire now and not waiting for Hamass demands for embargo on Gaza be lifted in order to have a ceasefire. How come the torn limbs of our children dont move you to have a decision! Fataḥ, formerly the Palestinian National Liberation Movement, lost its majority in the Palestinian parliament to Hamas. As of August 2007 the Palestinian Authority is split into two polities, each seeing itself as the true representative of the Palestinian people – the Fatah-ruled Palestinian National Authority and the Hamas Government in Gaza. The Fatah blamed Hamas that its security forces have set up roadblocks and arrested dozens of Fatah members and individuals in Gaza, whom they accused of spreading rumors. On 23 April 2014, Fatah and Hamas announced a new reconciliation agreement which would see a unity government formed within five weeks, ahead of a presidential and parliamentary election within six months. Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas said the reconciliation deal did not contradict their commitment to peace with Israel on the basis of a two-state solution, though Hamas will not recognize Israel.
