Interested in partnering with the Poughkeepsie Journal on Make A Difference Day this October? If so, read on! The Journal will have the opportunity to award a $5,000 grant to a local non-profit organization for a volunteer activity on Make A Difference Day, and we urge organizations to apply for the grant. Please send in a brief description, 200 to 250 words, of the project you are proposing for Make A Difference Day and send it to John Penney, Editorial Page/Community Conversation Editor, at jpenney@poughkeepsiejournal. The deadline is noon Tuesday, July 1. The money will fund a non-profits expenses and supplies for a volunteer activity on Make A Difference Day, which will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25. If there are any funds remaining after the activity, the non-profit may use it for general support. The organization must have 501(c) status to be eligible. The grant money is being made available through the Gannett Foundation Make A Difference Day Grant Program.
