Interesting. Supposedly my Medicare Part B covers motorized wheelchairs... But my doc only decided to certify me for a manual one, Until you will be evaluated for any need of a motorized one. Cute. Osteoarthritis and osteoporosis are destroying my spine, and I have reduced muscular strength.... Yet I should fit my ass into a manual chair and try to move around, how ? by pushing on the wheels with gloved hands, or shuffling my feet in mini steps on the ground ? I asked a neighbor in my senior housing, how did you get your motorized chair? He told me My doctor wrote a script for one. I asked my nurse how long would I have to wait to be evaluated after being in a manual chair, her splendid response, raising her voice, was : It will take what it takes. Her boundaries are to high to just say I dont know. I was looking forward a motorized chair to be able to be independent and enjoy the outdoors again. High expectations, uh ?
