Interesting day today! (To say the least) This morning we had a plan. But in this gig things rarely go to plan. Lukes left lung is healing but slower than hoped, and today his right one went down again. Yep, thats 5 so far in about as many weeks. He also had a turn today where for a few hours his respiratory rate dropped very low and he couldnt be woken properly. It was pretty stressful and scary but thanks again to an amazing team and a nurse constantly stationed in our room a transfer to HDU was narrowly avoided. Hes feeling much better tonight and still being watched closely. The plan this morning before all this happened was hopefully home tomorrow then back either Tuesday or Friday (theatre list permitting) surgery on both lungs to cause deliberate inflammation which would make them stick back to the chest wall, then a week or so recovery before home to get well for Phillip Island. The plan now? Good question. Hell probably stay in until hes had the surgery. Phillip Island is still the plan and his awesome team of Drs are working hard to make sure he is there fit and ready to race! (Although hell have to road trip it as hes been banned from flying for the time being) On a good note Bella played hookey from school today as the Wonder Factory who have been an incredible support to her throughout Lukes Journey, closed their doors today for the last time due to the impending move to the new hospital next month. To say goodbye they partied all day and into the night. She had a ball and is now extremely tuckered out!
