Interesting essay. The author equates the war on cannabis to a civil rights type movement/institutional reform effort that must be done state by state. Looking at the history of marijuana prohibition anyone with half a brain knows its roots are in racism against African Americans, and Hispanics. Currently in the legal states, like Colorado people are still in prison for selling marijuana prior to its legalization, all the while others are making big money doing the same thing they did. I think some sort of redress needs to be done and the law applied retroactively to free those currently incarcerated in legal states. As for financial reparations I dont think that is appropriate and I disagree with the author on that point. Getting out of prison should be enough. Thats my take. Have a look see and comment with your remarks, if you have any. Ending Marijuana Prohibition Must Take a Historical Perspective
