Interesting notes for astro curious and students on the Great Alaska Earthquake of March 27, 1964 -- the strongest earthquake recorded in the last 50 years -- 9.2 on the Richter Scale; and the second-largest ever recorded. This earthquake is being remembered now on various news channels. What a classic Earth Event chart! The Full Moon of Libra/Aries formed a Grand Cross with the Moons Nodes (where the Moon crosses the ecliptic). When the Sun squares the Nodes, twice a year, it is known as a Moon Wobble; when earth events (weather, quakes, etc.) and human emotions predictably escalate and are especially pronounced. Note the two Oppositions in addition to the Full Moon Opposition (full-moon phase angles between two planets): Pluto-Uranus Opposition Chiron and Saturn (Uranus is wide, but brought into the Opposition by Plutos proximity). This was mid-Sixties Rock n Roll. Inner life and Outer environment/events are powerfully and equally engaged in a shocking and injurious manner. Uranus CORRECTIONAL Quincunx to the Sun tipped the scales of Libra balance for a big-time American initiative correction (Virgo-Aries). A BETTER ORDER was mandated by the power of this event as the speed and passion of humanitys becoming was strongly checked. This correction eventually resulted in sounder building construction throughout our nation, going forward. From the article below: In 1964, earth scientists were swept away by the plate tectonic revolution, which changed everything we know about how the earth works, said Ross Stein, a U.S. Geological Survey geophysicist. That insight was triggered by the Great Alaska earthquake 50 years ago. As I listened to a radio report about this event yesterday, I was especially inspired by the fact that the Russian Orthodox Church in Old Harbor was THE ONLY structure left standing after the entire village was swept away -- On Easter. They didnt even need to clean it inside after the event. The church had conducted a prayerful request for safety just before the tsunami hit, and drawn a boundary, asking for protection from the tsunami. The congregation took it as an affirming sign from God that the Baptist church was completely washed away. Theres a teaching here about depth of foundation in trying times, and how we can ALWAYS ask for and receive grace and refuge, when we are well anchored in faith and the ever-present divine order behind the dramas of humanity on earth.
