repost from my page, I wrote this poem to Frances after her father passed away in 1997. It is so hard to understand this truth. We cling to that time when we will be reunited with those we love so dear. But here, well, here we wait. And struggle with the separation. I hate death. WHAT THOU HAST LOST O my lady, What grieves thy soul? While thy soul may mourn for temporal loss, Should thou grieve at eternity? Thy Father who is in heaven sees, and comforts, and says, My child, what thou hast lost, in truth, be gain. The pain that works its way from the heart, To the head, and back and forth again, Is only the enemies attack. Your Father will always defend you. Love of my life our King goes on before us, And prepares even now to welcome us home. This is not our final home and we shall see again Those who mean so much. What has thou lost? Everything. And one day shall receive it back again. Until then, take comfort in Him. And love those who remain. Yours Forever, your knight.
