Interesting performance review by Super Fan Balaji Mangalore. Whats ur report card looking like? My report card , 1-10 with 10 being the highest mark 1) Hussey - 9 (Excellent with Bat, good in fielding and catching,Dream run this IPL. Was the fulcrum of CSK batting. We can clearly see the impact if he gets out early) 2) Vijay - 2 (flop show, gone from bad to worst in batting which put too much pressure on middle order, very patchy fielding efforts. Not sure he will be retained as core team member in next auction) 3) Raina - 6(first few balls against a good pace bowler has become a known weakness) 4) Badrinath - Cant evaluate as he hardly played. Good fielding effort though 5) Jadeja - 5(blew hot and cold, not consistent. His batting is still a suspect although he won 2-3 matches with his bat in the beginning) 6) Dhoni - 7 (almost single handedly won key matches for us, good batting effort in IPL. He needs to come up in the order) 6) Bravo - 7(good with ball but with high bowling averageand excellent fielding, but batted poorly) 7) Albie -5 (ok. no match winning performance, played less matches due to injury) 8: Chris Morris - 5(bowled well in patches but not economical, didnt do justice to be called as bowling allrounder), 9) Ashwin - 4(although maintained good eco rate, but leaked runs against good teams with less number of wickets, failed miserably with batting, fielding and catching, missed a crucial chance in the final of pollock. not even attempted to catch it). 11) Mohit sharma - 8(find of the tournament for us. bowled in the initial slog overs and giving consistent breakthroughs. Good find for us) 12) Jason Holder - 4 (knows to bowl only one length and that is half tracker/short of good length. Even parthiv patel took him to cleaners. Simply, not consistent) Not mentioning the other 2-3 players like Saha, Franklyn and rajput as they played less number of matches. Overall, very predictable in their batting approach and it worked for us most of the IPL. Good fielding unit. But their death bowling is really horrible and it led to their downfall many times during this IPL(including finals). 4th Consecutive final and also the Best IPL season in terms of sailing smoothly into the knockouts but we are slowing becoming the SRILANKA of IPL as weve lost 3 of the 5 finals.
