Interesting read I came across today: Another story of karmic consequence of past life actions happened to a British businessman named John who told me his story. Back in England, John established a school and hired a professional manager to run it. The school flourished and John invested more money in it. After five years, the manager, whom he had hired and trusted, ran off with his money. In his anger, John filed a lawsuit against this man. While the suit was pending in court, John was invited by a Dutch couple friend of his to visit Sathya Sai Baba in India. Sai Baba has hundreds of thousands of followers in India, but more outside his own country. He is known for his ability to materialize things out of nowhere, read minds and heal the sick. He is considered a “miracle man of God” by his followers. He died only a few years ago, as he had predicted. While John was standing outside Sai Baba’s ashram, or temple, together with thousands of other followers, Sai Baba passed by them. When he saw John, he stopped and asked John to see him, calling him by name, although they were not introduced. Inside the ashram, Sai Baba told John about a very personal and private incident that happened to him and his cousin when he was 12 years old. While still wondering how on earth Sai Baba knew about that incident, Sai Baba continued, “And John, I want you to forget that man who ran away with your money in England, because in a previous life you did something worse to him.” Sai Baba told John that in a past life, John was a warlord in 16th-century Italy. And this man and his family were his vassals. “During that lifetime,” Sai Baba told John, “not only did you steal this man’s property, you even raped his wife and his daughter.” When John heard this, he cried like a baby in front of Sai Baba. When he got back to England, he instructed his lawyer to drop the case against his former school manager. He broke the karmic cycle by forgiving a trusted man who stole money from him.
