Interesting to read the official propaganda magazine of the IS in order to understand how they think and what they plan. Even though it is obvious that they are the 1st class criminals and their barbaric acts are beyond belief, they seem to have a pretty clear strategy whose process and enforcement they somehow always connect to the Quranic/hadith prophecies about the Final Hour. Particularly, the sections regarding foreign actors in the 4th issue of their mag reveal that they actually expect some treaty or agreement with the West (if not already in effect). Such an agreement is aimed to fight their common enemy, i.e. Iran and Russia, which they openly identify - first by citing the prophet You will have a treaty with the Romans until you both fight an enemy beyond them and then dedicating almost a whole page to Kissingers speech about Iran posing a bigger danger to the US than ISIS: In all the crises roiling the world, the U.S. should not lose focus on Iran. There has come into being a kind of a Shia-belt from Tehran through Baghdad to Beirut. And this gives Iran the opportunity to reconstruct the ancient Persian Empire, this time under a Shia label. From a geo-strategic point of view, I consider Iran a bigger problem than ISIS. ISIS is a group of adventurers with a very aggressive ideology. But they have to conquer more and more territory before they can became a geo-strategic, permanent reality. I think a conflict with ISIS — important as it is — is more manageable than a confrontation with Iran. (p. 39) Similar rethoric, only different methods.
