Interstate 64 reduced to one lane in Jefferson County November 7-10 Lane closures necessary for pavement repairs The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) advises motorists of lane closures this weekend on eastbound Interstate 64 in Jefferson County. The roadway will be reduced from three lanes to one lane between the Oxmoor Farm overpass and Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway), mile points 13.5 to 18.9. Contract crews will repair some pavement base failures to help extend the life of the roadway through the coming winter. The lane closures on eastbound I-64 are scheduled from 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7 until 5:00 a.m. on Monday, November 10. Motorists should expect heavy traffic delays and consider an alternate route. The speed limit in the work zone will be reduced to 55 MPH. In addition, the entrance ramp from Blankenbaker Parkway to eastbound I-64 will be closed during the same time period. Crews will be repairing some deteriorated pavement on this ramp. Motorists should follow the signed detour. This work is part of a contract for pavement repairs and asphalt resurfacing on Interstate 64 in Jefferson County. The project limits extend six miles from Interstate 264 (Watterson Expressway) to Interstate 265 (Gene Snyder Freeway). If temperatures permit, some resurfacing work will occur this fall. The majority of the work will take place next spring when temperatures are more conducive for asphalt paving. MAC Construction of New Albany, Indiana was awarded a $5.7 million contract for this work. The project is scheduled for completion in June 2015.
