Intro to Beekeeping Workshop Fundraiser for Seeds@City Urban Farm! Saturday, October 19, 2013 9:00AM- 1:00PM $50.00 San Diego City College, Building M, Room MS422 (room may change – we will inform registrants in advance) The perfect workshop designed for the absolute beginner and for anyone who wants to learn more about bees or is interested in hosting a Langstroth hive in your own backyard. In this workshop, you will be introduced to the following topics/skills: Regulations for beekeeping within the county & city of San Diego Types of Honeybees Honeybee Lifecycle Honeybee Diseases Anatomy of the Hive Tools & Equipment BUILDING A LANGSTROTH HIVE Bee Installation Hive Inspections Seasonal Management Honey Harvesting **Please wear heavy a long sleeved shirt, heavy pants and gloves. A veil is highly recommended. This is a 2-part workshop: Classroom lecture & Outdoor Lab with working hive. Seating is limited and early registration is encouraged.
