Is Mercedes alive? & has Ste passed on HIV to John Paul? We knew as soon as Mercedes McQueen was assumed dead in Hollyoaks that things might not be completely as it seemed, and this new twist may be about to prove us right! Fans of the hit Channel 4 soap will know that late last year, after being disowned by her family, Mercedes tried to blackmail Freddie Roscoe (Charlie Clapham) and grace Black (Tamara Wall) to sell her share of The Loft in order to start a new life away from the village. Of course these particular people are not the best people in the world to try and blackmail, and when Mercedes later went missing, and enough of her blood found in carpet to suggest that she had been killed, suspicion fell to Freddie. But, while Mercy’s family still try to come to terms with their loss, a letter posted to Mercedes next week spells new hope that she is still alive… The situation arises when Myra (Nicole Barber-Lane) and Porsche (Twinnie-Lee Moore) open the letter which tells them that Mercedes has successfully sold her half of the club to Freddie. Porsche decides to go to the bank, dressed as her cousin, to collect the money but is stunned when the manager explains that Mercedes has already been in herself to withdraw the lot. But they aren’t half as stunned as when they later watch the CCTV footage of the transaction – But what is it that they see? And the story is set to take another, dramatic twist when later Kim Butterfield (Daisy Wood-Davis) stumbles across a bloody knife hidden at The Loft – Is this the weapon that caused all the blood? And who hid it? But this isn’t the only drama that the McQueen clan face next week as Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson) is set to be formally diagnosed with HIV, but has he passed it on to his new husband John Paul (James Sutton)? The situation begins with Ste getting a call from the one night stand he admitted to JP over the Christmas period, telling him to get himself checked out. He finally confides in JP the situation, who takes immediate action getting them both appointments to get tested. Of course such a tense situation was bound to make emotions run high, but does John Paul mean it when he accuses Ste of ruining his life? JP heads off to get the test done, whilst Ste stays firmly in denial, but his new husband is later relieved to see him turn up at the clinic where both men got in to get the test done. John Paul is delighted when his test comes back as negative, whilst Ste’s world falls apart when he gets the exact opposite result. Could this be the moment that Ste returns to old habits? It probably doesn’t help that after the diagnosis, John Paul flinches at the thought of touching him…. Can they survive this latest setback? -Owner x
