Is a little bummed…today I was diagnosed with a condition that causes an abnormal overgrowth of jaw bone in my mouth and unfortunately, it’s growing a higher rate of speed than is normal for the condition. If it doesn’t stop growing or at least slow down A LOT, I will have no choice but to get surgery to remove the excess bone growth…the excess bone is growing on both the upper and lower jaw although the upper jaw is by far the worst and most exaggerated. While I must admit that I am very scared, I am mostly feeling blessed and am very grateful for numerous reasons: 1. The bone growth is NOT cancerous/has no potential to become cancerous 2. So far the bone growth does not hurt and is not impeding my speech or the ability to eat 3. So far the bone growth is not outwardly visible through my cheeks or when I smile 4. The underlying cause has been preliminarily identified and can hopefully eventually be resolved 5. This is a sucky condition, but it’s not life threatening 6. Things could always be worse So I have decided to try to focus on all these reasons I have to feel fortunate instead of focusing on the fear…the stress certainly will not help! I am also focusing my energy on praying that the bone will stop growing. Even though the bone growth is already quite significant, I would not choose to have the surgery to remove it as it currently is…praying it doesn’t get to a point where surgery is absolutely necessary. I am also thankful for the support of my family and Mike…they have been great and I’m lucky to have them!!! Now I’m off to enjoy a home-cooked meal Mike is preparing for me…YUMMY!!! #Blessed&Thankful! #StayingInPrayer
