Is belief required for religion? or is belief a bar, a hindrance to know God? ================================== By believing in God, you can never know god or love god! Believing itself is required only when your perception, your experience shows that such thing does not exist! But many religions start with and even end on believing in God. Perhaps believing is the only thing which keeps you away from God, it kills very curiosity to know god, very urge to travel on path to discover God, the very feeling of wonder at the world, which may strengthen desire to unveil and understand secrets of existence. Unfortunately, or to be correct fortunately, howsoever strong you believe, it can never override your own experience. So these religions believing in imaginary God, try to force belief or imagination with fore on others and call people who do not believe as driven by Satan, and even try to kill them. They are eager to teach religion to child in early age, at age when he has no capacity or inclination to doubt, so that in future when he learns doubting, he is reluctant to doubt on this concept of God, pressed deep in his unconscious mind. They are often even against education, which they are afraid, can shatter their belief. Because within their own heart, disbelief is always hidden deep. Just one spark and belief will be destroyed. So they are constantly tense on guard that someone may not break their belief- even if one makes one remark, draws one picture, demolishes one structure-even in joke or story-they become angry. They feel their religion is under attack. In fact, intelligent people criticize every religion, but on other religion notices or cares to worry for such criticism, as their foundation is not based on belief. These religion welcome it as first step towards the journey. If you are honest traveler on path of ultimate truth called God, how can you start with a lie? You have to start with truth only-truth which you know! which you know with 100% surety, beyond any doubt. Even if whole world says against it, you will still stand against the world and say that I know it. What is that truth? That is your own self! Even if whole world says that your are not there or you are dead, if you hear this, will you not oppose it? Because, if you can listen the world, that is enough proof for you! You do not need any Messiah or God-man or scripture or logic to prove it as you have zero doubt about it. You should start exactly from this truth. Then one truth will lead to another truth-ultimate truth. If you start from Truth, you will reach to truth in the end. Start with self, may know secret of life within your own self. And that life will tell you all that you need to know. And that day you talk of about god or mystery of existence with your own authority. You will not try to look into what is said in so and so scripture! Religions not based on belief, accept doubt as honesty that at least you start with what you existentially know and not start with belief of mind. None of the religions born in India or China talk of believing in God. Those religions born outside think that these religions are also belief. Like many believe in west that Hinduism believes in various gods and idol worship! This is incorrect understanding. Only one path called Bhakti in Hinduism takes God only as initial thing-a toy to be used initially- and required to be dropped later on to take jump into formless. That is why they destroy statue of Ganesh themselves-hinting at need that statute is to be dropped. Patanjali says that in Yoga, you do not need to believe in God at all, but if you still believe, you can use it for meditation in primary steps. Buddha does not believe in God. Mahavir Does not believe in God. Tao does not believe in God. Hinduism doe not believe in God, it talks of God, but not believe it as a person but only as life energy. To be more clear they say everything is god, god is in very atom, which in essence is saying that God does not exist! Because whole world or existence itself is God, they talk of God as dancer who is not separate form dance, so god also not separate form the World, so as per this God does not exist as a person, as ruler, as judge, as creator. It is this saying in other words that God does not exist, but only world exist and another name of world itself looked at from special angle is God. These religions do talk of existence of something beyond your day to day perception , but do not ask you to start with belief, but asks to start with your current perception only. They encourage your to go deep within into your current perception and inquire in your own self. They appreciate doubt on God and welcome as start. They say that in the end you experience Samadhi, bliss, void etc. and come to know secret of existence. They ask you, only to start with your own self-own body and breath- which are your own existential experiences! They talk making God your own experience. And they say that once you experience you become just like God, or one with God! In fact they say that experience is so vast that you cannot assign any word to it and just to indicate it is not common with your other experiences, they use term like Bhrama or Neti or Void so etc. But whole emphasis is on attaining the experience. I do not say that founders of those religions did not know this truth of God or had no experience of god, but they had no audience which can be explained such high truth. Like some concepts of Moses match with eastern concepts. There are some quotes of Jesus which give glimpse of wisdom of the east. In Islam word for self is Khud and for god is Khuda, which is enough indication that self only expanded becomes God and one can become one with Khuda by knowing Kuhd or self. But people who talked this truth loudly were killed. They had very few people who could understand this high end truth, but masses were so against even in accepting basic or elementary version of truth, that there was no scope for them to discuss ultimate truth. Unfortunately these masses took long time to accept basic truth and once they accepted, they accepted with so vehemently that they regarded people knowing higher truths as misled and killed them. To be truthful to founders, these religions need to look beyond elementary books and dig into hidden resources of their own. Howsoever great respect or love we have for God, we cannot start with believing in it, because that makes your journey started with a lie in the very first place. One should be humble to say, that it might be said in scriptures and might be said by great founder of religion, I will start with my own current experience only and find out my own truth.
